Cookie information
What cookies are, which ones this site may use, and how your Accept or Reject choice works.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can keep the site functional, remember preferences, or help measure aggregated traffic.
How we use them
Essential cookies (or equivalent local storage) remember your cookie preference so the banner does not reappear on every page load. If you accept analytics, we may set a lightweight analytics cookie to understand which pages are read most often. Rejecting analytics does not block browsing, reading Field Notes, or submitting the contact form.
Cookies table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| vsr_cookie_consent | Stores Accept or Reject preference for the cookie banner | 1 year (localStorage) | Virtualized Systems Review |
| vsr_analytics | Aggregated page-view counts when analytics are accepted | 6 months | Virtualized Systems Review |
Managing or disabling cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner. You can clear site data in your browser settings to reset the preference. Browser controls can also block cookies entirely; essential preference storage may then reappear as a banner on later visits.
Third-party cookies
Embedded fonts may be requested from Google Fonts; that request can expose your IP address to the font provider. We do not embed third-party advertising cookies. Image hosts serving public photographs may receive standard request logs when images load.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting analytics only stops optional measurement. Site navigation, legal pages, and form submission continue to work.
